Obituary of Elbert Kenneth Owen

Elbert Kenneth "Ken" Owen (63) resident of Tensed, ID died June 26, 2013 at his home in Tensed following an apparent heart attack. He was born January 21, 1950 to Elbert "Red" and Arlene (Lovine) Owen at Madera, CA. He grew up at Madera and graduated from Madera High School with the class of 1969. Following his graduation, he began a career with Pacific Bell Telephone Co. where he worked as a lineman. Ken married Judy Myers on November 10, 1971 at Madera. They were divorced in 1986. Ken moved to the Plummer , Idaho area in 1993. He enjoyed playing Bingo and was an avid NASCAR fan whose favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. Ken was a member of the Coeur d' Alene Tribe. Ken is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Clifton and Denise Owen of Fresno, CA and daughters Tammy Owen of Fresno, CA and Wendy Gruber of Plain, WI. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law Cheri and John Rorie of Worley, ID, Jeri and Aaron Jones of Friant, CA and Debbie Burk and Warren Nelson of Plummer, ID. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Rosary was recited Friday June 28, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.and Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday June 29, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. both at the Rose Creek Longhouse, Worley with Fr. Robert Erickson S.J. Celebrant. Interment followed at the Coeur d' Alene Tribal Cemetery at DeSmet, ID. A gathering of family and friends followed back at the Rose Creek Longhouse.
