Obituary of Donald G. Janson

Donald G. Janson (62) longtime Plummer resident, died July 23, 2013 at Hospice House of North Idaho following a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. He was born October 10, 1950 to Robert and Nora (McCartney) Janson at St. Maries, ID. Don grew up in Plummer and attended schools there. He married Christina Cox on May 23, 1970 at Spokane, WA. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in July of that year. Don served in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1973. He returned to Plummer and went to work for Pacific Crown Mill at Plummer. Don started working at the ground floor level of the mill and worked his way up to millwright by the time the mill was destroyed by fire in 1998. He then started driving truck working for Davis Transportation of Missoula , MT . In 1999, Don went to work for Mercer Transportation out of Spokane, WA. In 2005, he went to work for the Benewah Medical Center in Plummer. Illness forced his retirement in 2010. Don enjoyed woodworking especially making small "critters " and angels out of cement pavers and small pieces of wood. He taught his granddaughters Teya and Christine , the love of creativity. Don also enjoyed doing mechanic work on old automobiles, specifically the ones that were not involved with computers. Don is survived by his wife Chris at the family home in Plummer, ID also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law Donnie and SueAnn Janson and daughter and significant other Dee Janson and Jeff Allen and daughter and son-in-law Charlie and Tracey Way all of Plummer, ID. He is also survived by brothers David and Steve "Corky" Janson both of Plummer and sisters Maxine Leitz and Doreen McCully both of Plummer, ID. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Roger Janson in 1951 and Robert Janson in 2000. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday Jul 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Coeur d' Alene Tribal Wellness Center, Plummer, ID with Pastor Don Cambra officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Plummer American Legion Post. A gathering of family and friends will follow back at the Wellness Center.
