Obituary of Elizabeth LaSarte
Elizabeth LaSarte (60) resident of Plummer, ID passed away at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’ Alene, ID on April 29, 2022. She was born to Hubert Mullen and Edna LaSarte on April 19, 1962, in Spokane, WA. Liz grew up around the DeSmet and Tensed area, attending grade school in DeSmet and high school in Plummer.
Following high school, Liz had her daughter Alison; however, Alison was born too early to survive. She later had her son Curtis Grimsley in 1989. Liz was an extraordinarily strong and fiercely independent woman. She worked with a firefighting camp crew and obtained her GED. She then went to work as the Alternate Resources Coordinator at Benewah Medical Center. Liz had a passion for helping people and the Coeur d’ Alene Tribe in this position. She was able to help all sorts of people obtain benefits; anything from social security, medical coverage, and help with grants. After 10 years in this position, Liz had to leave for health reasons. She found much joy in her new adventure, she became a stay home mom. She could be with her son, and watched her nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Liz enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved going for rides on back roads, listing to her 80’s hair and heavy metal bands, attending concerts, thrift store shopping, taking kids to Disney on ice, collecting Bald Eagle figurines and photos, and collecting rocks. She spent a lot of time on riverbanks, lakes, and mountains finding the most perfect and smooth rocks. When she traveled, she also brought rocks home with her. Liz had always loved jewelry but was financially never able to treat herself. She finally was at a place in her life where she could do so, and she enjoyed collecting unique pieces of jewelry. More than anything else, Liz was a family person, and loved her family deeply. She looked forward to family gatherings and spending time with them. On another note, she loved her alone time – she was just as much an introvert as an extrovert. She struggled with chronic pain for many years but did her best to not let it get her down and affect the people around her.
Liz is survived by her son and his wife Curtis and Suzanne Grimsley of Coeur d’ Alene, ID; siblings Ron LaSarte of Tensed, Larry LaSarte and John LaSarte both of Plummer, ID; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Alison LaSarte, and her siblings Gary LaSarte, Cheryl LaSarte, Jim LaSarte, and Laverne LaSarte.
