Obituary of Frank D. Michael

Frank Day Michael (78) longtime Emida, ID resident passed away at his home on May 1, 2022. He was born to J. Keith and Cathern (Day) Michael on September 13, 1943, in Davenport, WA. Shortly after Frank was born, the Michael family moved to Idaho. Frank attended the Emida school and St. Maries High School. On June 16, 1962, Frank married Nadine Keener and the couple had 3 children Tori, Toni, and Timothy. Frank and Nadine divorced in 1982. He later met Vicki Wheeler Shelden, and they spent 7 years together. In 1992 Frank started dating Doris Swatman, and they married on April 23, 1994, at their home in Emida. They were married 21 years when Doris passed away from her battle with cancer. Most of Frank’s life he spent logging, and he owned and operated his own logging business. He was very active in 4-H and coached basketball and Tug of War. Frank enjoyed training, raising, and riding horses, and was very active with the Emida, Fernwood, and Upriver Saddle Clubs following in his mother’s footsteps as the official announcer. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, riding horses, and camping. Frank is survived by his children Tori Poesy (Vern Fritsche), Toni (Ralph) Quigley, Jackie (Brian) McGregor, and Tami Wendell; grandchildren Jessica Freeman, Nadia and Jason Elder, James Buchanan, Natasha (Spencer) Patron, Kayla Hodge, Sierra McKinzie, Crystal (Dustin) Turner, Bri-Anna (Jeremiah) Lawson, Doris (Brayden) Griffin, Jacob McGregor, Blake McGregor (Mickey Ream), and Jared (Elena) McGregor; siblings Duffer Michael, Doug (Debi) Michael, Punk (Linda) Michael, Judy (Rick) Turner, and Linda Frazier; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Peg Guenther, Jan Kingsley, Mule Alan Michael, Alice May Michael, and Ricky Michael; son Timothy Gordon Michael; wife Doris M. Michael; the mother of his children Nadine Dreisbach; and granddaughter Brittney Poesy. A memorial service to celebrate Frank’s life will be on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 3:00 pm at the Elks Lodge in St. Maries. A gathering of family and friends to share a meal will follow.
