Obituary of Vince Peters
Kim “Vince” R. Peters (67) lifelong resident of St. Maries, ID passed away at his home on May 6, 2022. He was born to George and Bernadine Peters on December 19, 1954, in St. Maries, ID. Vince attended St. Maries schools where he excelled in every sport he played. He graduated from St. Maries High School with the class of 1972.
Following high school, he went to work in the woods for Stanley Wolf. He attended North Idaho College for 1 year before he decided continuing his education was not for him, so he went back to the woods logging. After he worked for Stanley Wolf, he went to work with Tubb Young. Vince felt this was his greatest achievement as he learned how to fall trees and log efficiently. In 1985 an injury in the woods forced him to quit logging.
Vince was a talented athlete. He was a member of the St. Maries Men’s Golf Association in his younger days, and possibly still holds records at the golf course. It is said that most people either excel at golf or softball, but never both because one game will mess up the swing of the other game and vice versa. Not for Vince! He was also a phenomenal softball player playing in St. Maries and traveling to Spokane with his good friend Taco to play in a league there. In the months where the weather was not feasible to play outdoor sports, Vince bowled on league for 12 years with Don Karber, and their team took 2nd in the State of Idaho. Vince also had a green thumb and could grow the most impressive tomatoes. Most were roughly around 2 lbs and just perfect.
For 22 years Vince adored his companion and soulmate Terese Johnson, and he would do anything for her. He helped her take care of her parents when they grew older and needed some help. Vince had the honor of driving the 1929 Chevy in the parade when Tude and Bonnie were Grand Marshall’s at Paul Bunyan Days. Vince also loved his dogs and was almost a dog whisperer when it came to training them, they were some of the smartest and well-behaved dogs; Vince loved them, and they loved him. Vince will be missed for his kind heart and all the love he gave everyone, he made everyone feel special.
Vince is survived by the love of his life Terese Johnson at their home in St. Maries; children Sunny Arnold of Emida, ID, Teddy Johnson Barton of Fairbanks, AK, and Clark Johnson of Bakersfield, CA; brother David Hudson of Kendrick, ID; and 10 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.
At Vince’s request, there will be no formal services. A party to celebrate his life will be announced at a later date.
