Obituary of David K. Spicer

Early in the morning of July 2j9, 2013, David K. Spicer quietly passed away, leaving behind his family members and many, many friends, including me (his wife, Yvonne) and my brother and five sisters, his best friends, (Mike and Vicky Noe and family), his mother (Peggy Helms), his siblings and their families (John Spicer, Mark Spicer, Kelly Nuendorf, and Matt Helms), his friends from IDFG, his friends from our community and across the nation, and our menagerie of cats. His father, John Spicer and his sister, Catherine Melody Spicer preceded him in heaven. Dave , the love of my life, was born in Kirksville, MO., on May 16, 1954. His family moved to Keokuk, IA when he was very young and he graduated from Keokuk High School in 1972.. He served in the United States Air Force from 1973 to 1978, spending time stationed in Germany, Guam, and Phoenix, AZ among other assignments. After his discharge from the military, he moved from Phoenix to the San Diego area. I met my loving husband, Dave, in 1978 when we were both attending The San Diego Technical Welding School. We moved to Elvaston, IL in 1979, then to Montrose, IA, and later to Ames, IA. We were married in a simple, but beautiful ceremony surrounded by family and friends in our home in Montrose, IA., on December 26, 1982. Dave attended Iowa State University and graduated in 1989, earning his Master's Degree in Fish and Wildlife Biology. In 1990, we moved to Post Falls, ID where he began his career with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. We moved to our home in St. Maries, a place he dearly loved, in 1998. Dave proudly served the St. Maries Fird District in the capacity of Fire Commissioner for many years. Dave mentored many, young and old, during his lifetime. He was a member of many wildlife organizations. On Sunday, August 18th, at 3:00 p.m., we will have a celebration of Dave's Life at our home in St. Maries. Dave represented so much that is good in our community and we would like to hear any memories you would like to share. Read David Spicer's Obituary and Guestbook on www.hodgefuneralhome.com.
