Obituary of Zella Mae Goodwin
Zella Mae Goodwin (77) long time St. Maries Resident died Jan. 3, 2012 at Hospice House in Hayden, Idaho. She was born May 1, 1934 to James and Hazel (Daniel) Goodwin at New Castle, Wyoming. She moved with her family to Plummer, ID in 1936 and on to St. Maries in 1946. She graduated from St. Maries High School with the class of 1953. Following graduation, she went to work for the Corner Grocery Store. She later went to work for the J. C. Penny Co. and First Bank of St. Maries . In the late 1960's, she went to work for the ASCS (Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service) office in St. Maries. She retired from there after 25 years of service. Zella never married. She enjoyed traveling and in her retirement, had visited many States in the U.S. and Alaska as well as traveling to Colombia, Peru, Australia and New Zeland and Hawaii. She enjoyed photography and was a member of the St. Maries Camera Club. She was very active in the Hughes Historical Society. Zella moved to Coeur d' Alene, ID in 2006. She is survived by her brother Wes Goodwin of St. Maries and numerous cousins. A celebration of her life will be held on January 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Hodge Funeral Home, St. Maries with Rev.
