Obituary of Ferdinand Jean Blanc

Ferdinand Jean Blanc (78) resident of St. Maries, ID died August 21, 2013 at St. Maries. He was born December 14, 1934 to Raymond and Aileen (Water) Jean Blanc at Nampa, ID. He spent his early years in McGregor, ID before moving with his family Sitka, AK. He graduated from Sitka High School with the class of 1954. Ferd , married Brenda P. Mehtala on August 28, 1954 at Orofino, ID. They made their home in Kamaiah, ID. He moved to Sitka, AK in 1956. He lived in Orofino, ID before moving to Boise, ID where he worked at Industrial Sewing Machine Co. In 1974 he moved to Salt Lake City and worked for Sheep Skin Tannery. Ferd went to work for a cedar mill in Greer Idaho in 1976 and later moved to Coeur d' Alene ID in 1983 where he formed Ferd Co. He moved the company to Harrison manufacturing industrial sewing machines. He later retired in 1997. His wife died in 2011. Ferd was a member of the St. Maries Gun Club and an avid trap shooter. He recently received his pin for 100, 000 registered targets hit. Ferd also enjoyed playing golf and sponsored several golf tournaments at the St. Maries Golf Course. Ferd is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Ray and Donna Jean Blanc of Clarkston, WA Bob and Kristine Jean Blanc of Vancouver, WA. And sons Ron Jean Blanc of Rathdrum, ID, and Rick and Randy Jean Blanc both of Harrison, ID. Also surviving are his sisters Marlena Wishard of Ontario, OR and Doralee Engle of Lewiston, ID, 18 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both his parents, ½ brother Richard Day and brother Chuck Jean Blanc. Arrangements are pending. A Memorial "Fun Shoot" will be planned at the St. Maries Gun Club at a date and time to be announced. The address is at Living Heritage Church 2534 Appleside blvd. Time will at 12:00 pm. Directions are Bridge st to 15th the last light going out of Clarkston west. Left on 15th follow up the hill which turns into appleside. Continue on thru the light and when you get to the store on the right just past it on the curve there is a sign and turn right into the driveway.
