James Siron

Obituary of James Ray Siron

James Ray Siron (89) resident of St. Maries passed away on January 26, 2023, in Coeur d’ Alene, ID.  He was born to James and Stena (Oren) Siron on November 24, 1933, in Madelia, MN.

When Jim was 10 years old, the family took a train to Moscow, ID.  He graduated from Moscow High School with the class of 1952.  Jim attended the University of Idaho for one year before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force.  He served in Japan during the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged as a Sgt after serving four years. 

Jim returned to Moscow, ID and went to work for J.C. Penney.  He then went to work for First Security Bank.  In 1965 he had an opportunity to transfer to St. Maries and work as a loan officer for the bank. Jim met Sandy (Bergman) Wicks at an Elks dance in Moscow. They were married August 15, 1966, and made their home at Rocky Point.

Jim retired from First Security Bank in 1988 at the age of 51. He and Sandy snow birded to Welton, AZ for 28 years.  Jim enjoyed playing golf, trolling for blue back and trout, and playing cribbage.  He also enjoyed camping and in his younger years, he enjoyed hunting elk.  Jim enjoyed watching sports, specifically the Seattle Seahawks.  Back in the day on Saturday nights you could find he and Sandy hanging out at either the Bamboo Barn, Parkline, or the Benewah Resort.  Sandy passed away in September of 2021.

Jim is survived by his sons Jerry (Bonnie) Siron of St. Maries, Troy (Shelly) Siron of Great Falls, Mt, Jeff (Margie) Siron of Winston, OR, and Greg (Michelle) Siron of St. Maries. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Besides his wife Sandy, Jim was preceded in death his parents, son Tony Siron, grandson Rogan Schultz, and sister Margaret.

Services with Military Honors presented will be at a later date to be announced.
