Obituary of Charlotte Ione Johnson
Charlotte Ione Johnson (87) resident of St. Maries, ID passed away at her home on January 29, 2023. She was born to Joseph and Zelma (Parr) Sand on August 5, 1935 in Roseburg, OR. Charlotte grew up in Roseburg and graduated high school in 1953.
Following high school, she married the love of her life John Johnson on August 14, 1954. The couple moved to Portland, OR. Charlotte was a home maker and worked at P & C Tool Company. When her children were teens, she attended Oregon State and Portland State Colleges to obtain her teaching degree. She student taught, and later decided to go another route, staying home and taking care of her husband through his battle with cancer.
In 2018, Charlotte moved to St. Maries, ID to be with her daughter. They owned and operated the LeCoultre Guesthouse together. Later, they found a beautiful home on Meadowview Road, and moved there. Charlotte loved watching the birds, wildlife, and spring flowers. Charlotte was an avid reader who could read 4-inch-thick books in a mater of a couple days. She also enjoyed knitting, baking, and gardening.
Charlotte is survived by her daughter Kay Mathews of St. Maries; brother Steve Sand of Roseburg, OR; and granddaughters KT and Megan. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, her brothers Glen Sand and Joe Sand, and her son Jeff Johnson. Charlotte will be laid to rest in Tigard, OR.
