Terry Johnson

Obituary of Terry Joe Johnson

Terry Joe Johnson (67) resident of Emida, ID died Jan. 31, 2023 at his home. He was born Feb. 10, 1955 to Darrell and Mary (Martin) Johnson in Madison, Indiana. He grew up in Madison where he received his education and graduated from Madison Consolidated High School class of 1973. Following graduation, he spent two years at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology as a Science Major.  Looking for a different direction, Terry enlisted in the U.S. Navy. In 1974, Terry and Lois Overpeck (Akers) were married in Madison. She traveled with him to Virginia and Idaho based on his Navy orders. Terry and Lois divorced in 1982. He married Janenne Hoggan in 1986 and they made their home in Hawaii where he was stationed. Terry served 16 years with the US Navy as an Electricians Mate.

Following his retirement from the Navy, Terry went to work for the INEL (Idaho National Engineering Laboratory S.E.). He and Janenne divorced in 1992. Terry left the INEL in 1996 and went to work for General Physics, training nuclear power reactor operators.  He eventually branched out to start his own consulting business training operators in various parts of the country. He made Minnesota his new home from 2002 until 2014 when he professionally retired. Always wanting to be a “Mountain Man”, he went to hunter guide school in 2014.  He moved near Emida to his “Cabin on a Hill” that matched his life dream. He loved waking up in the morning with the opportunity to hunt and fish by simply walking out his front door.

Terry is survived by his son’s Jeremiah (Shannon) Johnson of Greer SC, Christopher Johnson of Bellingham, WA, Terry John (Tammy) Johnson of Becker, MN, and his daughter Tracey Johnson of Folsom, CA. He is also survived by his brother Wayne (Tami) Johnson of Payson, AZ and six grandchildren.

Services will be at a later date to be announced by his family
