Obituary of Vinnie R. Jorgensen
Vinnie R. Jorgensen (73) lifelong resident of the Fernwood, ID area passed away at Benewah Community Hospital on March 16, 2023. She was born to Roscoe and Wilma (Robbins) Norton on November 14, 1949 in St. Maries, ID. Vinnie grew up in Fernwood and Clarkia; she attended St. Maries High School and graduated with the class of 1969.
Following high school Vinnie met Vern Jorgensen at Mary’s Rendezvous in Clarkia, ID. She was waiting tables and he would come in with his son to eat. They were married April 17, 1970 at the Hitching Post in Coeur d’ Alene, ID. Vinnie went to work at the Fernwood Mercantile, a job she held for 18 years. A better opportunity came, and she went to work at Emerald Creek Garnet grading garnets. After a couple of years there, she retired.
Vinnie enjoyed fishing, and spent a lot of time fishing with her family. She also enjoyed hunting and in her younger years, she and Vern rode motorcycles taking memorable trips into Canada and San Juan. Vinnie also partook in drinking her favorite beer, playing solitaire, and watching old westerns.
Vinnie is survived by her sister Holly (Scott) Fields of Kittitas, WA and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Vern, her parents, and her siblings Martha Johnson, Kathleen Bailey, Ted Norton, Sandy Starcher, and Mona Rupel. A gathering to celebrate Vinnie’s life will be announced this summer.
