Obituary of Randy Craig Scott
Randy Scott, 61, of Watford City, North Dakota, passed away February 21st, 2023. Surrounded by family and knowing how beloved he was, Randy peacefully completed his battle with bladder cancer and went on ahead to heaven. He was born in Spokane, Washington, to David and Peggy Scott on June 1st, 1961. Randy spent his early life in Plummer, Idaho alongside his three siblings. The years were filled with hunting, hard work, and a very impressive high school career at Plummer High (class of 1979) that he remembered fondly for the rest of his life. Before graduation Randy committed his life to Christ, a commitment he kept faithfully.
After acceptance into four major military academies, Randy chose the United States Coast Guard and served with honor for fourteen years. During his time in the service Randy met fellow "coastie" Deborah (Prentice) Scott who would later become his wife on June 2nd, 1990. After leaving the USCG Randy chose to stay in the last town he was stationed in, Mobile, Alabama, and build a life that included owning two businesses, running operations for private security, and of course, his proudest accomplishment, becoming a father to five children.
Eventually Randy decided it was time for a new adventure and moved the family to Watford City, North Dakota, where he would go on to work as a plant operator, be very involved in the local community, build many lasting friendships, and experience being a very loved ''papa" to three beautiful grandchildren. It was a beautiful life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Debbie; children, Megan (28) Joshua (25) Micheal (22) Alva (19), and Daniel (17); grandchildren: Aaliyah, Madisyn and Amelia Smith; his mother Peggy Blackburn; three siblings, Patrick Scott, Clint Scott, Tracy Dole as well as a very loved stepfamily and countless in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
He is preceded in death by Father David Scott and beloved stepfather Joe Blackburn.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
