Marjorie Martin

Obituary of Marjorie Ruth Martin

Marjorie Ruth Martin (89) resident of St. Maries, ID passed away at Silverton Health and Rehab in Silverton, ID on April 6, 2023.  She was born to Jim and Bertha Clark on November 15, 1933 in Salem, OH.  At the age of 12, Marjorie and her family moved to Arizona.  She graduated from Phoenix Union High School with the class of 1950.

Following high school, Marjorie married her high school sweetheart and love of her life Jim Martin on December 24, 1951 in Chandler, AZ.  They made their home all over Arizona as Jim’s job as a heavy equipment operator took them to many different places.  After years of moving around, the Martin family settled in Cave Creek, AZ where Marjorie stayed home to raise her family.  An opportunity brought the Martin’s to Payson, AZ where Marjorie and Jim started a tile business.  The couple owned and operated the business for over 10 years.  Sadly, Jim passed away, so Marjorie sold the business.  She then went to work for Arizona Tile in Mesa, AZ and eventually ended her career keeping books for a Retirement Community.

Although Marjorie retired, she kept herself very busy with volunteer work.  She was very active with Lions International, specifically in their eye glass program.  A member of the Presbyterian Church for many years, Marjorie stepped up whenever they needed her for charity work or extra volunteer work throughout her community.  She also loved to bake and make jellies and jams and was very talented when it came to canning her own produce raised in her garden.  She could also crochet, and her family was blessed with several items she made.  At 80 years old, Marjorie moved to St. Maries, ID to be near her daughter Trina.  She was very active and involved with the Community Presbyterian Church and enjoyed attending their bible studies.

Marjorie is survived by her children Trina (Gene) Binkley of St. Maries, ID, Allen (Anita) Martin of Sulfur Springs, TX, and Keith Martin of Prescott, AZ; sister Arlene (Robert) Kornbau of Mesa, AZ; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great-great granddaughters; several nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim Martin, and her sister Lorna Hilliard.

A memorial service will be, Saturday April 22, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Community Presbyterian Church.  A gathering of family and friends to share a meal will follow in the fellowship hall of the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Presbyterian Church, 1100 College Ave., St. Maries, ID 83861 or the Lighted Cross Fund c/o Ginny Oakes, 1117 Main Ave., St. Maries, ID 83861.
