Gary Pray Sr. (82) resident of Junction, TX passed away on April 11, 2023, at Peterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville, TX. He was born the middle of 3 boys to Rufus and Loretha Pray on November 1, 1940 in Fleer, TX. Gary grew up in Abilene, Texas and attended Abilene High School.
At the age of 14, Gary began working to support the family due to his father's death. He obtained his GED and continued to National University earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and pursued his Masters’ Degree in Business Administration while on active duty in the Navy.
He married Nell (Dye), a love story that lasted 40 years. At age 18, Gary enlisted into the United States Navy. He retired after 25 years as a Chief Warrant Officer and moved to St. Maries, Idaho with his wife and daughter, Debrah. Gary enjoyed assisting and supporting others to reach their goals and aspirations. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, fast action cowboy competitive shooting, the outdoors, pig farming and livestock ranching. He enjoyed life with Nell and his family and valued life by working hard and playing harder.
Gary is survived by his daughter Debrah, son Gary Lee Jr. and his family of (Temecula, California); 4 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Nell Pray; daughters Ginger Pray and Laurie (Pray).
A graveside service with military honors will be presented on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 10:33 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery.
