Margie Becker

Obituary of Margie Ann Becker

Margie Ann Becker (85) resident of Calder, ID passed away at Benewah Community Hospital on May 11, 2023.  She was born to William and Louise (Marcott) Hahn on January 29, 1938, in Lead, SD.  At a young age, Margie’s family moved to Wallace, ID.  She attended the Catholic school in Wallace and graduated with the class of 1956.

On February 12, 1957, Margie married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life Glen Becker in Merced, CA where Glen was stationed.  When he was honorably discharged, the couple returned to Wallace where Margie worked as a waitress.  They had an opportunity to run the Arrow Point Resort for a couple of years; an adventure they thoroughly enjoyed.  The family then moved to Walla Walla, WA where Margie went to work for the Bon Marche’, a job she held for several years.  The next adventure for the Becker family took them to Superior, MT.  Glen and Margie ran a restaurant, and she turned the laundromat into a secondhand store.  At the age of 40, she attended cosmetology school and furthered her education to become an instructor.  She bought Rich’s Beauty College in Missoula, MT and taught beauty school until she semi-retired after several years.  Margie and Glen enjoyed traveling and took on jobs managing several RV parks and ranches.  In 2010 the couple decided to permanently retire, and they moved to Calder, ID.

Margie enjoyed traveling with Glen and meeting new people.  There was never a person that met her who didn’t fall in love with her.  She could soften the toughest of personalities, and she didn’t know a stranger.  The couple visited 48 of the 50 United States and formed friendships wherever they traveled.  Margie also loved gardening and watching hummingbirds.  With her feeders at times, there could be up to 100 hummingbirds that would come to visit and actually land on your hands if you stuck them out for them to rest on.  Margie was a former member of the Elks, and an active member with the St. Mary’s Immaculate Catholic Church and the Catholic Ladies.  Simply put, she loved volunteering, life, and people.

At her request there will be no formal services; however, her family will be gathering for Catholic Mass on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 5:00 pm at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church.
