Obituary of Doreen J. Jones
Doreen J. Jones (73) former resident of St. Maries, ID passed away surrounded by her loving family at her daughter’s home in Fernwood, ID on June 15, 2023. She was born to Howard and Georgia Jones on June 27, 1949 in Everett, WA. Doreen grew up in Post Falls, ID and attended school there.
Following high school, Doreen married Jack Spink Sr. and the couple made their home in Cheyenne, WY. They started a family having 4 children, and Doreen stayed home to take care of her children. The marriage ended in divorce, and Doreen packed up her children and moved to St. Maries, ID to stay with her parents out Mission Point. In 1987 Doreen met Jerry Standinger. They married and moved to Fargo, ND. In 1994 Doreen returned to St. Maries with her children before moving to Hayden, ID.
Doreen enjoyed the outdoors and everything it had to offer; she rode horses, camped, and fished. She loved going to amusement parks and spending time with her family. Road trips were one of her favorite things to do, and it was pretty common to see her take off on a whim to have dinner, drinks, and pie at the 50,000 bar in Montana. Her specialty was pineapple delight, and she loved to cook for her family. Most importantly, Doreen was always there for her children, loving them fiercely; she was the heart and soul of her family. As a single mother, she raised her children to be independent, but to know they could always count on each other. She was the rock and the solid foundation of her family.
Doreen is survived by her children Jack (Diane) Spink of Spokane, WA, Jayluke Spink of Hayden, ID, Aprile Dodson of Hauser, ID, and Zeta (Bill) Haley of Fernwood, ID; siblings Sandy (Dennis) Hall of Rathdrum, ID, Valerie (Russ) Simpson of Chilco, ID, and Paula Airhart of Coeur d’ Alene, ID; numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.
This is to my 4 beautiful kids. My light might have gone out in the year of 2023, but I don’t want you to mourn or do a lot of crying; remember me the way I am. I want you to remember me the way I was Mother, friend, and someone to talk to. I may not be here physically, but as long as you hold me in your memories and your heart, I will always be with you. Just remember I will always love you.
At Doreen’s request, there will be no formal services. Her family will plan a private gathering at a later date.
