Orren grew up in Deer Lodge, MT and Black Lake, ID. In 1957, he was in the very first class to graduate from Kootenai High School.
Following high school, Orren attended North Idaho Junior College for 2 years. He then went onto the University of Montana to study Engineering. One of Orren’s first jobs out of college was with the U.S. Forest Service. In 1967 he met Marie Anderson in Lewiston, ID and it was love at first sight. The couple married on May 10, 1969 in Anatone, WA and made their home in St. Maries, ID.
Orren worked at the Sunshine Mine in the Silver Valley to support his family. He then went to work as a Debarker Operator for Potlatch Corporation. Orren retired after 35 years dedicated to the mill. In his spare time, Orren enjoyed camping, fishing, riding 4 wheelers, and wood working. He had many projects going on at a time, and his family was blessed to have a few of the things he made. He also loved his beloved dog Odie who precedes him in death by a couple of months.
Orren is survived by his wife Marie at their home in St. Maries; children Shawn (Shaelene) Shuler and Troy Shuler both of St. Maries; and 2 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and a baby sister.
At Orren’s request, there will be no services; however, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Hopes Haven, 53 Robinson Lane, St. Maries, ID 83861.
