Obituary of Jody A. Short
Jody A. Short (57) lifelong Emida, ID resident passed away at the Schneidmiller Hospice House on September 30, 2023. Jody was born to Robert and Billie Gean (Grant) Short on January 17, 1966, in St. Maries, ID. He grew up near Emida and attended school Upriver until transferring to St. Maries High School his 9th grade year.
Having a passion for the woods and a drive to go to work early, Jody left school in the 10th grade to go log with his father. His first job working for his dad was running crane piling brush, and he proved himself a talented operator. He ventured out and obtained his CDL driving log truck for just about everyone around this area. Sadly, an accident last year caused him significant injuries and he was unable to continue to work.
Jody loved old cars and owned a 72 Dodge and a 61 Ford pickup. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, spending time on the water, and riding 4 wheelers. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. A gruff looking guy, he had a silly sense of humor with a very kind heart. It wasn’t abnormal for him to consistently check in on the welfare of his friends and neighbors to make sure they were doing good.
Jody is survived by his children TJ (Samantha) Short, TeeOnna Cunningham (Kevin Germeaux), and Trent Hill all of Emida, ID; father Bob (Gail) Short of Emida, ID; mother Billie Gean Grant of Post Falls, ID; siblings Chad (Christina) Short of Emida, ID, Stacie (Joe) Osterberg of Genesee, ID, and Kirk (DeeDee) Short of Emida, ID; 6 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life potluck will be held at the Emida Community Center on November 4th at 1pm.
