Obituary of Glenda Mae Sylvester
Glenda Mae Sylvester (85) resident of St. Maries, ID passed away on December 20, 2023 at Schneidmiller Hospice House. At the age of 6, Glenda’s family moved to Bonners Ferry, ID. She graduated from Bonners Ferry High School with the class of 1957.
Following high school, Glenda married young and held various jobs in bookkeeping to support her family. The marriage ended in divorce, but she had another chance at love when she met John Sylvester. The couple married in Sandpoint, ID in 1971. The couple moved to Halfway, OR where Glenda went to work at the school. They relocated to Albany, OR where she worked for Chin Timming and Stone Forest.
John and Glenda invested in several properties. They managed apartment complexes and an RV park. Wanting to return to North Idaho, the couple moved to St. Maries, ID in 2006. The Sylvester home was a vacation destination for all of their children, and Glenda found so much joy hosting a good time for her children and grandchildren. She loved Christmas and took pride in making it special for her family. Glenda enjoyed knitting and crocheting and made sure all of her kids and grandkids received a special gift from her. She also enjoyed her flowers, plants, and chickens.
Glenda is survived by her husband John at their home in St. Maries; children Geri Brooks of Richland, OR, Debra Kiesel of Aragon, OR, Cristy Spletstoser of Laclede, ID, Patrick Sylvester of Yreka, CA, Tom Sylvester of Corvallis, OR, Debbie Rae of Pincher, Alberta, and Darren Koski of Halfway, OR; siblings Trudell Mendenhall of Sandpoint, ID, Dallas Lane of Bonners Ferry, ID, Adrian Lane of Wasilla, AK, and Vicki Lou Centers of Meridian, ID; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Cornelius “Corky” Lane, Gwen Cline, and Jerry Lane.
A Celebration of Glenda’s life will be this spring.
