Obituary of Angelo Bruce Bissell
ANGELO “ANGIE” BRUCE BISSELL AGED 89, WAS BORN OCT 19, 1934. HE WAS RAISED ON A 240 ACRE RANCH IN THE GOLD COUNTRY OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. HE JOINED THE AIR FORCE AS AN AIRCRAFT MECHANIC IN 1954, RIGHT OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL. AT THE TIME HE ALSO MET THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE, “JOYCE.” THEY WERE MARRIED FOR 61 YEARS. SHE PASSED IN 2018. TOGETHER, THEY TRAVELD THROUGHOUT THE PACIFIC ISLANDS (JAPAN, GUAM,HAWAII/WAKE ISLANDS) AND GERMANY. ANGELO RETIRED IN 1974 AFTER A TOUR IN VIETNAM, WHERE HE WAS AWARDED THE BRONZE STAR.
ANGELO HAD MOONLIGHTED AS A CABINET MAKER IN THE 20 YEARS OF MILITARY SERVICE; HE BUILT MANY LOCAL BARNS, BOAT HOUSES AND BUILDINGS IN THE HARRISON AREA, AND WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN BUILDING THE O’GARA FIRE STATION, ALONG WITH A GREAT MANY LOCAL VOLUNTEERS.
THEY MOVED TO HARRISON, IDAHO ONTO THE PROPERTY THEY HAD PURCHASED IN 1960. THEY BUILT THEIR RANCH HOME, HAD MILK COWS, RAISED THEIR DAUGHTER, AND HORSES THAT THEY SPENT MANY YEARS, PACKING IN TO THE WILDERNESS AREAS IN IDAHO/MONTANA/OREGON. ANGELO OFTEN SAID “WE SAW AMERICA FROM THE INSIDE.” THEY DID THIS FOR SOME 32 YEARS.
ANGELO IS SURVIVED BY HIS DAUGHTER, ANGIE LEE BISSELL MORROW AND GRAND-DAUGHTER, SHAYLEE REESE BISSELL MORROW OF HARRISON, NEICES AND NEPHEWS IN CALIFORNIA AND ALABAMA. HE WILL BE SADLY MISSED. PLEASE LEAVE ANY DONATIONS TO HOPE’S HAVEN, 53 ROBINSON LANE, ST. MARIES, IDAHO.
