In 1946, the family traveled by train to St. Maries where he attended school. He married Beverly Allen in 1954, and together they raised their five children and a nephew, Jerome. Milton was employed with various local businesses including a feed store, a grain elevator, and a pole yard. He worked for many years as a small engine mechanic before taking a position at a local mill. In the early1980’s, Milt opened his own business selling and repairing small engine equipment with stores in St. Maries and in Potlatch, Idaho. He and Bev relocated to Princeton in 1988 where they resided for 35 years. Milton retired in 1999.

Milton enjoyed time with his family, dancing with his wife, and working with his draft horses. He looked forward to driving his team in farming events and parades. He was involved in the UpRiver Saddle Club, Benewah County Sheriff’s Posse, Benewah County Fair Board, St. Maries Elks, Potlatch Lions, and Princeton Community Center.

One of Milt’s passions was music. He played guitar and sang locally with his band for many years. He spent several years participating in the Wilderness Jam Session where he combined his music and camping with his fellow musicians.
