Obituary of Jeffrey Krieter
Jeffrey Krieter (72) lifelong resident of St. Maries, ID passed away at his home on July 25, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Jeff was born on May 12, 1952 to Dutch and Virginia Krieter, in St. Maries and was raised near “Krieter’s” field. He worked all throughout high school as a butcher for Ray Manning. Jeff graduated from St. Maries High School with the class of 1970. Jeff had overcome a lot growing up, and he became the most wonderful man.
Following high school, Jeff worked for the State of Idaho fighting fires. He then went to work at Potlatch Corporation, a career he had for well over 40 years. In his earlier days in 1972, he met his high school sweetheart Sharon Larson. The couple enjoyed their marriage and had a lot of fun, but getting married young left some challenges, so the couple divorced in 1976. Years later, he reconnected with Sharon and was blessed with over 5 more years with her before he died. They just re-married in March 2024, vowing to love one another in sickness and in health until death do they part. In the years they were brought back together, they enjoyed traveling all over together. Every day brought on fun or a new adventure, they were both blessed to have reconnected with one another.
A Jack of all trades, Jeff could fix, mend, bake, can, mechanic, and repair anything and everything. His family often said when he was done with a project, he had “Krieterized” it. He was extremely talented at anything and everything. A wood working master, he made things for all of his friends and family, never selling anything but finding joy in gift giving. He was a very loving husband, a doting step-father, and uncle who was proud of his family. He also enjoyed hunting, but loved animals, specifically his dogs. Being born and raised in St. Maries, he is leaving history and a huge legacy behind.
Jeff is survived by his wife Sharon at their home in St. Maries; step-daughter Traci (Steven) Bernethy of Graham, WA; sisters Nita White of Coeur d’ Alene and Carey (Kirk) Krieter Helm of Avinger, TX; his nieces Dawn Weaver and Kim Hix who were like daughters to him; numerous other nieces and nephews; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and a huge bonus family. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Aubrey, Val Gene, Julia, and Kitty.
A Celebration of Jeff’s Life will be on September 14, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Elks Lodge in St. Maries, ID. A gathering of family and friends will follow to share a meal.
