Obituary of Troy Lee Green Sr.

Troy Lee Green Sr. (66) resident of St. Maries, ID passed away on October 15, 2024, with his family near him. He was born to Juanita “Grace” Baskett on September 5, 1958, in Lawton, OK.  As a child he spent time in Oklahoma and California before moving to St. Maries, ID. Troy attended St. Maries High School.

Following high school, Troy’s first job was at Cenex, St. Maries Co-op. Troy’s eldest son’s grandfather was his supervisor at the time.  Troy went to work at Regulus Stud Mills, Inc. He started out as a laborer pulling boards and worked his way up to head Millwright. Troy spent 22 years at Regulus, leaving the mill in 1999 to pursue other job opportunities. To support himself over the years, Troy worked for Idaho Fish and Game spending most of summer near Harrison, working alongside his Stepfather, John Nigh.  Troy spent many years building roads and driving dump truck for Borgmann Logging. During spring break-up season every year he would work with forever friends Gary & Phyllis Hill at Putter Parts. Due to several health issues, Troy medically retired in 2014.

Music was Troy’s real passion. He was highly talented at playing the bass and guitar; he could sing too! Troy’s children and grandchildren would beg him to teach them his talent, but Troy couldn’t read an ounce of music, instead he played all those years by ear. His talent could not be taught. Troy played in some of St. Maries’ finest bands, including (but not limited to) The Loose Gravel Band, Four on the Floor, and Road Runner.  He, with the help of band members and family built a makeshift stage on his property and would hold BBQ’s and play music until the wee hours of morning. Another passion of Troy’s was fishing.  He loved to fish, spending time on all the area lakes and rivers; however, we believe Moose Creek Reservoir was his favorite place to go on a hot summer day with his most favorite fishing partner cousin, Teeter.  At one time, Troy had a motorcycle and enjoyed group bike rides with Gary & Phyllis Hill and Greg & Cindy Lounsbury, always an adventure.

A Jack of All Trades and a Master of none, Troy earned the nickname “Rinky” because he could Rinky-Dink anything and everything back together making it run again. Except for this one time, while out on a Oh, too familiar back roads adventure with his brother Leo, a rifle went off and shot a bullet through the floorboard of “Ole’ Blue” and right through the oil pan. The long walk home sparked up a great conversation.

Troy had quite a few names, but his (2) favorite names were Dad and Grandpa. Troy is survived by his children Troy (Jessica) Green Jr. of St. Maries, ID, Anthony Green (Elizabeth Wood) of Pullman, WA, and Alyssa Green of Olympia, WA; Grandchildren Austin, Rebecca (Junior) Sherwood, Gage, Ayden and Aleeya; Great grandson’s Greyson and Baby boy arriving March 2025. Brother Leo (Alicia) Blodgett of St. Maries; cousin and best fishing partner Stanley “Teeter” Lawson. He is proceeded in death by his mother Grace and siblings Sandy & Kenny Whitney.
