Obituary of Randy Paul Neumann
Randy Paul Neumann (67) resident of Fernwood, ID passed away at the Schneidmiller Hospice House on November 27, 2024. He was born to Rolland and Ruth Neumann on May 5, 1957, in Mandan, ND. Growing up, Randy’s parents lived and worked on a farm in North Dakota. Randy liked to tell stories and joke about his time on the farm. The two most remembered stories are that he helped his dad harvest bales of hay at the ripe old age of 3, so he said anyway! The other was that one winter walking home from school in the snow (1st or 2nd grade) he managed to get his sock wet. He then in his infinite wisdom took his shoe and his sock off to walk the rest of the way home with one bare foot. He said his mom teased him about that for the longest time. After the farm, his parents owned and managed equipment rental stores. This took the family all over the Northwest, ending up in Spokane, WA. Randy graduated in 1975 from high school in Spokane.
Following high school, he worked for his parents a couple of years, and then he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving a year as a Medical Assistant. When he was honorably discharged, Randy worked various jobs all over the Pacific Northwest and into California. He had worked the rental stores, drove truck, and was a salesman in the hot tub industry among other things. Randy then attended college, graduated and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. He worked in the nursing field until 2014.
Randy was blessed with the love of his life Teresa McClure, and the couple married on January 22, 2011, in a small intimate ceremony at their home. They stayed in Post Falls, and Randy worked in home health care as an LPN. Randy’s battle with cancer started in 1997, he was given an estimated 3 years to live. Beating the odds, Randy lived years beyond that when he was then diagnosed with metastatic cancer. He and Teresa had bought a log cabin in Fernwood to retire to in 2019. They had both fallen in love with the cabin and the area.
There were many things that Randy enjoyed doing, but when his cancer returned, he found them difficult. He was an avid gardener, growing anything and everything, you can think of; even growing things by hydroponics. The couple had a big greenhouse and enjoyed working in it. Living in Fernwood, he enjoyed watching the wildlife; he was a lover of guns and shooting but wasn’t a hunter due to his health. When he was able, he loved to ride his Harley, travel, and camp. He spent one summer mining, though he was not successful in making his fortune he enjoyed it immensely. He and Teresa made many memories when they bought a boat and camped on the water, which was one of Randy’s most favorite things to do. They also had an old motor home that they enjoyed visiting the local parks in. He was artistic and talented, making candles, wine, beer, doing beadwork and many projects around the cabin.
Randy is survived by his wife Teresa at their home in Fernwood, ID; his only child, Kyle Neumann, his stepchildren Todi Harvey, Daniel Rose, Kevin “Mark” McClure, and Michael McClure; 1 grandchild, 5 step grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Rodney Neumann.
At Randy’s request there will be no services.
