Obituary of Ann M. Brebner

Ann M. Brebner (70) resident of St. Maries, ID passed away at her home on December 20, 2024, with her husband by her side.  She was born to Roman and Jane (Wesolowski) Czlapinski on February 22, 1954 in Toledo, OH.  Ann grew up in the Ohio area attending St. Hyacinth School and Central Catholic High School, graduating in 1972.  She gave birth to her only daughter Adrea Czlapinski Burkle. She went to work as a Phlebotomist at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, OH from 1976-1995.

In the 1990’s when the internet was just beginning and chat rooms became a popular way to meet people, Ann met the love of her life, her rock, and her solid foundation Mike Brebner in an AOL Chatroom in 1995. The couple began dating online before it was even a thing.  Ann moved to St. Maries and started her life with Mike, marrying him in 1997 in Coeur d’ Alene, ID. She went to work at Benewah Community Hospital as a Phlebotomist and then a CNA; her career at BCH spanned from 1996-2019.

Ann was well loved by all who met her.  She had a close group of friends from the hospital whom she adored and treasured.  In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, games on the computer, and cooking although she did not get the baking gene from her talented mother.  She also loved her grandchildren and was well known for waking up at 4:00 am to watch her granddaughter’s dance competitions streaming from the other side of the country.  Ann was simple and she found beauty in simple things, she loved to drive to Aqua Park and just sit by the river on a nice day.  She will be missed by her family and friends.

Ann is survived by her loving husband Michael Brebner; daughter and son in-law Adrea (Scott) Burkle; sons Jeremy (Yulanda) Brebner and Bill (Gretchen) Brebner; grandchildren Avery, Aiden, and Piper Burkle and Katy, Jerrett, Taryn, Madison, and Reed Brebner.  She is preceded in death by her parents, son in-law Michael Kerger, and many aunts and uncles.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Ann’s life will be on January 3, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Eagles Lodge in St. Maries, ID.  A gathering of family and friends to share a meal will follow.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Hopes Haven, 53 Robinson Lane, St. Maries, ID 83861.
