Obituary of Gary Houle

Gary P. "Pete" Houle (65) resident of Plummer, ID died December 4, 2013 at his home in Plummer following an extended illness. He was born June 7, 1948 to Peter and Della (Allery) Houle in Belcourt, North Dakota. Pete grew up in Belcourt and attended boarding school in Wapeton, ND. Following his graduation, he attended Automotive Mechanics School at Minneapolis, MN. Pete married Doris Azure in 1976 at Belcourt, ND. He lived in various areas of the Mid-west where he could find work in automotive repair. He was divorced in 1989. Pete married Peggy Barnes in 1995 at St. Paul, MN. He and Peggy lived in various areas of Western Washington State where he continued to work as a mechanic. He became disabled and moved to Plummer, ID in 2008. Pete was an excellent mechanic. He also was known for his cooking abilities. He specialized in making Gullete Bread which is a type of large biscuit that is sliced and served with whatever topping you desire. He was also accomplished at preparing fry bread, also a Native American specialty. Pete was a member of the Turtle Mountain Chippewa Tribe of North Dakota. He is survived by his wife Peggy at the family home in Plummer, ID. Also surviving are his sons Michael, Mark Boswell and Todd and Trevor Houle and daughters Brandy Grant, Sheila Zephier, and Sam Greene all of Minneapolis, MN, sons Randy Houle of Jamestown, ND and Leigh Houle of Minot, ND and step-daughters Jennifer Hedrick of Plummer, ID and Dana Barnes of Atascadero, CA. Pete is also survived by brothers Doug Houle of Ham Lake, MN, Harvey Houle of Belcourt, ND and Dennis Houle of Minnesota. Sisters Judy Lenoir of Plummer, ID, and Genny Beaulio and Anna Houle both of North Dakota. There are 24 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also surviving.
