Obituary of Frank B. Bergman

Frank B. Bergman, MGySgt U.S.M.C., Ret. (93) longtime St. Maries area resident, died January 14, 2014, at Valley Vista Care Center. He was born July 16, 1920 to Frank and Mary (Tumberg) Bergman at Highland, PA. Frank graduated from high school there with the class of 1938. Frank enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps In 1944. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during WWII. He also served in Korea and Vietnam during those conflicts. During his career Frank received numerous awards and medals including the Navy Commendation Medal. Frank married Mozelle "Moe" Walker in 1962 in California. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps In 1970. They then moved to Santa, Idaho and later to Parkline near St. Maries, Idaho. Frank and his wife became very active in the local bowling circles. They coached Junior Bowling leagues. Frank was active in the St. Maries Men's Bowling Association, serving as Association Secretary for several years. Frank and Moe were presented with the Betty Mellen Bowling Award in recognition of promoting bowling and the advancement of the sport within the community. Frank also enjoyed fishing. He was a member of St. Maries Eagles Aerie #2012. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Mozelle on January 2, 2012, brother Slim Bergman and sisters Frances, Elna and June. He is survived by his guardians and long-time friends Don and Charlotte Smith of Coeur d'Alene, ID, as well as several nieces and nephews. No services will be held. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Woodlawn Cemetery, St. Maries, ID. Memorials are suggested to the Veterans Memorial Fund c/o Sara Renner , Benewah Co.
