Obituary of Joseph J. Sochinsky

Joseph James Sochinsky (72) resident of Santa, ID died February 8, 2014 at Hospice House of North Idaho in Coeur d' Alene, ID. He was born January 2, 1942 to Joseph and Mary (Hocevar) Sochinsky at Cleveland, OH. He grew up and lived in Cleveland and Phoenix, AZ. Joe moved to Idaho when he was 18 years old. He began working in the woods as well as working odd jobs for farmers in the Santa, ID area. Joe went to work for Diamond International in 1975 at the mill located between Fernwood and Clarkia. He worked as a de-barker and front end loader operator. Joe worked for the mill for 9 years. The mill shut down in 1984. Joe then was a care giver for his parents on the family farm near Santa. Joe also logged with his brother Tom for a while. Joe never married. He enjoyed listening to music and taking walks. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his nephews Thomas and Brandon. Joe is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Tom and Denise Sochinsky of Santa, ID, his sisters Caroline Moulton of Santa Cruz, CA, Mary (Steve) Cochran of Wasilla, AK and Christine (Brenden) LeBlanc of Post Falls, ID. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services are going to be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, St. Maries, ID later this Spring.
