Obituary of Carl M. Udager

Carl Martin Udager (73) longtime St. Maries area resident, died Dec.8, 2011 at St. Maries, ID. He was born Oct. 4, 1938 to Ole and Alice (Hansen) Udager at Faith, S.D> Carl grew up in Faith and graduated from Faith High School with the class of 1956. Following graduation, he attended Northern State College at Aberdeen, S.D. Where he received a B.S. Degree in Business. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to South Dakota and worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction and mining. He moved to St. Maries in 1974. He drove dump truck and operated heavy equipment in road construction in the woods. He worked for several area contractors. He was involved in a disabling accident in 1985 and forced to retire. Carl never married. He was an avid reader of Fiction books. Carl is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Melvin and Beverly Udager of St. Maries. Brother John T. Udager of Faith, S.D. And sister Helen Samulson of Cheyenne, WY. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Oscar Udager and sister Diane Keehner. Funeral Services will be Thursday Dec. 15, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. At the Kinkade Funeral Chapel 1235 Junction Ave., Sturgis, S.D. Interment will follow at the Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis.
