Obituary of Karen Rose Kendall
Karen R. Kendall (60) longtime St. Maries, ID resident, died March 14, 2014 at Hospice House of North Idaho in Coeur d' Alene, ID. She was born May 12, 1953 to Leo and Jackee (Rick) Hall at Spokane, WA. Karen grew up in Spokane where she attended St. Al's Catholic School and Rodgers High School. She graduated for Rodgers H.S. with the class of 1971. Karen married David G. Kendall on March 20, 1971 at Spokane. They lived in Spokane where she was a homemaker. Karen moved to St. Maries, ID in 1977. In the early 1980's, Karen worked for Benewah Comm. Hospital and Valley Vista Care Center as a nurse's aide. This developed her interest in health care and she became a volunteer for the St. Maries Ambulance and worked as an EMT-A for 5 years. Karen also worked as a waitress for Buds Big Burgers and the Gem State Restaurant. Karen lived in Spokane for a while where she worked as a visiting nurse and IV Tech. On her return to St. Maries, she worked as manager for the Eagles Lodge until illness forced her early retirement. Karen enjoyed collecting antiques and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed visiting the Coeur d' Alene Tribal Casino. Karen is survived by her husband at the family home. Sons and daughters-in-law David and Heather Kendall and Johnny and Anne Shaw all of Spokane, WA and Richard and Laurie Shaw of Yelm, WA. Daughter and son-in-law Judy and Bill Anderson and daughter Kimberly Kendall all of St. Maries, ID. Also surviving are her sisters Jackie (Lee) Morse and Donna Gallagher of Havre, MT and Susan (Mel) Felton of Auburn, WA. and 11 grandchildren. Karen was preceded in death by both her parents and brother's Tom, Timothy, and Gary and sisters Judy, Vicki, Margie and Terry. Visitation will be Thursday March 20, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Friday, March 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hodge Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, St. Maries with Pastor Greg Worch officiating.
