Obituary of Alfred R. Drake

Alfred Ronald Drake (54) resident of Plummer, ID, died March 31, 2014 at his home in Plummer following an apparent heart attack. He was born January 11, 1960 to Frederick and Christina (Gomez) Drake at Los Angeles, CA. Al lived in Los Angeles until he was 6 years old. The family then moved to Bisbee, AZ. Al graduated from Bisbee High School with the class of 1977. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Arizona National Guard. He was discharged from there and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1980 and moved back to Arizona. Al moved to California and went to work at Edwards Air Force Base in Antelope Valley where he was able to work on Air Force One. His employment allowed him to travel to 47 of the United States. Al attended Praise Chapel in Antelope Valley where he met Evelyn Barrientos. They were together for several years and were married on June 20, 2009 in Antelope Valley. They moved to Plummer in 2010 where they made their home. Al went to work for the Port of Hope in Coeur d'Alene while working toward a degree in Social Work. In April of 2013, Al and Evelyn fostered their great-nephews Davaughn and Nikye. Al enjoyed his family and friends. He loved working with his hands and was an exceptional carpenter. Al was also an avid Oakland Raiders fan. Al is survived by his wife Evelyn and great-nephews Davaughn and Nikye Carrillo at the family home in Plummer, his father Frederick L. Drake of Little Rock, CA, Brother Lance Drake of Clifton, AZ and sisters Kathy Valencia and Candy Drake both of Sierra Vista, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother. Al's life will be celebrated with a military funeral honors ceremony and Christian memorial at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Evangeline Abraham Longhouse in DeSmet, Idaho with a meal to follow. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.
