Obituary of Evelyn Pauline Wolfe

Evelyn Pauline Wolfe (88) lifetime resident of St. Maries, ID died April 3, 2014 at St. Joseph Care Center in Spokane, WA. She was born November 8, 1925 to Jacob and Anna Gordon in the Benewah Valley, near St. Maries. Pauline grew up in the Benewah Valley and attended elementary school there. She graduated with the St. Maries High School Class of 1943. She moved to St. Maries in 1945. She married Stanley K. Wolfe on December 30, 1947 at Coeur d' Alene, ID. Pauline started her family in 1949 and was a stay at home mother until 1955 when she went to work for the U.S. Forest Service. She worked there as an office manager until her retirement in 1989. Her husband died in 1990. Pauline was a member of the St. Maries Eagles Auxiliary and the St. Maries Elks Ladies. Pauline was a member of the Benewah Co. Sr. Citizens and actively participated in all their events. Pauline was an avid bowler and a member of the St. Maries Women's Bowling Assn. She was a member of her local Bunco group and enjoyed the friendship and conversation that went along with playing the game. Pauline also enjoyed playing cards, working cross-word puzzles and going to the Coeur d' Alene Tribal Casino. She was an avid reader if fiction books. Pauline also enjoyed fishing when she was able to and gardening. Pauline is survived by her son's and daughters-in-law Barney and Arla Wolfe of Columbus, Ohio and Butch and Becky Wolfe of St. Maries. Her daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and Mike Hanson of Spokane, WA. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters Mildred Feezer, Helen Hall and Lorraine Gordon. Funeral Services will be Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Hodge Funeral Home, St. Maries, ID with Deacon Floyd Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with a gathering of family and friends following at the St. Maries Eagles Lodge.
