Obituary of Sandra W. Brebner

Sandra W. Brebner passed away on April 6, 2014 at the age of 79. She was born August 18, 1934 to Willis and Vera (Marquardt) Pugh in the Benewah Valley, near St. Maries, ID. Sandra grew up in the Benewah Valley and attended Benewah Valley Elementary. Her family moved to St. Maries in her high school years where she attended and graduated from St. Maries High School in 1952. Following high school, Sandra attended University of Idaho. After college, she moved back to St. Maries and began work for Dr. McCabe DDS. Later, Dr. Schrader bought the practice and she worked for him for 10 years. In that time, she married John Charles Brebner February 19, 1955 at the St. Mary's Immaculate Catholic Church in St. Maries. She stayed in St. Maries where she raised her family. After working for Dr. Schrader, Sandra went to work as a dispatcher at the Benewah County Sheriff's Office where she retired . Sandra enjoyed horseback riding. She competed in many Gymkhana events and won the Nationals in barrel racing. She was a member of the St. Maries Saddle Club and St. Paul's Lutheran church. She also enjoyed gardening, rock collecting, antique collecting, traveling the southwest dessert, and loved the outdoors. Sandy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Jim and Patty Brebner of Spokane, WA and sons Paul and Steve Brebner of St. Maries. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters-in-law Ron and Darla Pugh, Stan and Gerri Pugh and Lonny and Candy Pugh all of St. Maries an her sister and brother Sharon and Dick Procopio of Polson, MT. also surviving are 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday April 11th from 1:00 p.m.to 5:00 p.m.at Hodge Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church with Fr. John Gathungu celebrant. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with a gathering of family and friends to follow at the Benedictine Hall.
