Nancy,
Was so shocked to hear of a great loss for you and all who know the wonderful Van. I enjoyed out trips on and off the mountains. The Prime Timers will miss his wonderful smile and friendly personality. I will keep you in my prays.

I was heartbroken to hear of Van's death. Van and Nancy were main the cohesive force that enabled us skiers from Superior to get to know the Idaho outlaws at Lookout Pass. They always had ready smiles and invitations to join their group, making the experience much more enjoyable. It will never be the same up there.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. The death of a loved one is one of the most devastating experiences a human can face. At times, the loss can seem unbearable. The Bible promises; "God is near to the brokenhearted." It also says: "Throw your burden on God and he will sustain you." (Psalms 34;18 and 55:22) I hope this message will help you cope with the loss of your loved one.

Van was my ski companion for many years. We skied in British Columbia both via. snow cat and helicopter - many turns together with the smiles, laughs, nods, and high fives that ended a great run or a great day in the powder. Great ski memories and summertime memories also - sitting on goat rock overlooking the upper Clearwater drainage was a great day and beautiful hike. Van will be missed by all that knew him.

Nancy,
Miriam and I were shocked and saddened by Van's death. I remember him as a "sometimes parishioner," <g> and someone always willing to help. Back in '85, I bought this new truck. Within a year or so, the clutch fluid started to leak. Van was a CC and doing my work, so I took it to him. He thought the truck too new for this, talked to Chase and they repaired it. Miriam and I always looked for you and Van at Silver & Lookout, and enjoyed our brief conversations on the slopes. Van was the first one to take me "south of the border." He was a good man. We'll miss him and wish God's comfort and peace to you and the family.
