Obituary of William L. Covey
Willliam L. Covey (73) resident of the Benewah Valley, died April 22, 2014 at his sisters home on Alder Creek Road. Bill was born August 23, 1940 to Lester and Margaret (Huslander) Covey at Nashua, New Hampshire. He grew up and attended school at Nashua, NH. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was discharged during boot camp for medical reasons. Bill married Geraldine McIntyre on Sept. 3, 1962 at Pepperell, MA. Following his marriage, He was then drafted into the U.S. Army in 1963 and served with the 101st Airborne and U.S. Army Rangers stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY. He was honorably discharged in Sept. of 1965 and moved to Hollis, NH. He worked as a truck driver for Blue Line Express and also drove an oil truck for first National Stores. In the late 1960's , he and his wife settled in New Hampshire and started their family. They adopted John and had four of their own children as well as being foster parents to many other children. Bill started his own logging business for many years until an illness forced his retirement. He moved to Minnesota in 1991 and to St. Maries in 2011. Bill enjoyed working with model trains, gardening and baking and cooking. He is survived by sons John and Bill Covey both of Minnesota, Peter Covey of Florida and Rick Covey of New York and daughter Faith Covey of Vermont. Foster children Lucy Dustin of Allenstown, NH and Dottie of New Hampshire. He is also survived by sister Roberta Champagne of St. Maries, ID and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brother Richard Covey.
