Obituary of Carl A. Ferguson

Carl A. Ferguson (63) resident of Fernwood, ID, died May 24, 2014 at his home in Fernwood from a brief battle with cancer. Carl was born September 2, 1950 to William and Sara Jane (Cope) Ferguson at Sylva, North Carolina. He grew up in Sylva and attended school there. When Carl was 18 years old, he went to work for a couple of years for a local sawmill. In 1968, he moved from Sylva to Fernwood where he went to work in the woods. Carl relocated to Oregon where he worked as an equipment operator in rock crushing. He married Arlene McGaha in Clatskanie, OR. After their marriage, they moved to North Carolina where Carl worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction for two years. They then returned to Clatskanie where Carl went to work for Tevin Brothers logging. In 2002, they moved back to Fernwood where Carl retired. Carl enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed guns and re-loading his ammunition. Carl also loved to go boating, doing wood work and spending time with his family. Carl is survived by his wife at the family home in Fernwood., his daughters and sons-n-law Aileen and Larry Green of North Carolina, Angela and Ralph Shineflew of Fernwood, Georgia and Doug Beck of Alaska and June and Dave Beyer of North Dakota. Also surviving are sisters Eddie and Brenda both of North Carolina and brother John Sutherland of FL. Carl is also survived by 8 grandchildren , 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister Linda. A potluck gathering of family and friends will be held at the Ferguson home on 97 Julian Lane, Fernwood, ID at 1:00 p.m.on Saturday June14, 2014.
