Obituary of William C. Anderson
William C. "Bill" Anderson (79) resident of St. Maries, ID, died June 13, 2014 at his home in St. Maries, ID. He was born December 4, 1934 to Clarence and Dorothy (Mork) Anderson at Duluth, Minnesota. Bill grew up in Duluth and attended schools there. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1953. His duty stations included Hawaii and Yukosuka, Japan. He married Delphine Ashby on Feb. 4, 1965 at Reno, NV. Bill's last duty station was China Lake, CA where he retired as a Machinist Mate 1st Class in 1978. Bill and Delphine moved to St. Maries that same year. He went to work for the St. Maries Complex of Potlatch Corp. where he worked with the boilers. Bill retired from Potlatch in 1998. His wife died in 2005. Following his wife's death, Bill went to work part time for the Exxon station in town. He worked there about five years. Bill was a member of the St. Maries Eagles Aerie #2012 of St. Maries and the V.F. W. Post 889 of Coeur d' Alene, ID. Bill loved sports and was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. He is survived by step-sons Joseph Ashby of Portland, Or and Charles Irish of St. Maries. Also surviving are his sister Marie Oja of Duluth, MN, 5 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Graveside services will be Friday, June 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. Parker McNeill officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Idaho National Guard and St. Maries American Legion Post # 25. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the St. Maries Eagles Lodge.
