Obituary of Henry W. Teal

Henry Wellington Teal Sr. (97) was born February 3, 1917 to Harry R. and Nancy (Hale) Teal at Marshfield, OR. Henry grew up at Marshfield and graduated from High School there with the class of 1935. Following graduation, Henry briefly worked in the hay fields of California. He returned to Empire , OR and worked for Coos Head Lumber Co. in the boiler and electrical dept. Henry married Laura Ann Baker on June 13, 1941 at Coquille, OR. The following year, Henry enlisted in the U.S. Navy and did his basic training at Farragut Naval Base. He served on the USS Wilkes a destroyer during WWII. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Oregon where he spent his working career as an electrician for Roseburg Lumber Co. and Coos Head Lumber Co. Henry retired in 1977 and moved to Santa, ID. His wife died in 2008. Henry enjoyed hunting and fishing his entire life. One of the highlights was shooting a bull moose at the age of 82. Henry went to join his wife Laura on July 3, 2014. Henry retained his quick wit and sense of humor until he passed peacefully. He will be missed by everyone who really knew him. Henry is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Henry Jr. and wife Sharyn of Santa, ID., Harry and wife Marge of Grants Pass, OR., Victor and wife Lourdes of Arizona and John and wife Tami of Canyonville, OR. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters.
