Obituary of Merna Eileen Rude

Merna Eileen Rude, 71, of St. Maries, Idaho passed away Monday, September 15, 2014 on Balboa Island with family by her side. She was born to the late Merle and Edna Rovig on January 24, 1943 in Minot, North Dakota. Merna married Larry Rude in 1965, in Minot, moving to Texas after their wedding. Over the years they lived in many places: Texas, California, Florida, and Germany, before retiring to St Maries, ID in 2000. Merna was an active member of her church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Merna loved to travel, and spend time with her family. Merna is survived by her husband, Larry Rude, her mother, Edna Rovig, and her three children: Brian and Jenny Rude, of Starkville, MS; Tim and Dana Rude, of Irvine, CA; and Loren and Cathy Rude, of Corona del Mar, CA. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Justin, Evan, Ashley, Alex and Anna. And, siblings: Myron and Carol Rovig of Minot, ND and Gloria and Gary Fjeld of Atlanta, GA . Due to Merna's battle with cancer, in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Cancer Research Institute at www.cancerresearch.org/giving-to-cri A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the church of Christ, 16481 E. Main Street, Tustin, CA at 10:00 am. A memorial service will also be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 at Hodge Funeral Home, 138 S. 8th Street, St. Maries, ID at 11:00 am.
