Obituary of Philip M. Sergent MSgt, USAF
Philip M. Sergent (67) MSgt, USAF, retired, resident of Tensed, ID, died October 12, 2014 at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, Spokane, WA. He was born one of thirteen children on October 1, 1947 to Morris and Mattie (Lucas) Sergent at Colson, KY. Phil grew up in Kentucky and graduated from high school there. After his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Phil serve two tours in Vietnam. He married Maria Jensen on Dec. 22, 1985 at Lake Tahoe, NV. He retired from the Air Force in 1987. Phil then moved to Everett, WA and went to work for Boeing Corp. He left that position in 1993 and went to work for Washington Trucking. An injury forced his early retirement. Phil enjoyed farming, bee keeping, cattle ranching, camping, hunting and going four-wheeling. He was a member of the Benewah Co. Republican Party, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the National Rifle Assn, and the North American Hunting Club. Phil is survived by his wife Maria at the family home in Tensed. His son and daughter-in-law Benjamin and Polly Sergent of Plummer, ID, his daughter and son-in-law Kristin and Walter Marcy of Rosamond, CA and daughters Kimberly Ann Jensen-Welch and Melissa Sue Jensen both of Clearfield, UT. Also surviving are 6 brothers, 4 sisters, 10 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother and sister. Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tensed Community Church, Tensed, ID with Pastor Tom Owen. An interment with military rites will follow services at the Sergent home. A potluck gathering of family and friends will follow internment at the home.
