Obituary of Clara May Wicks

Clara May Wicks (84) longtime St. Maries resident, died October 20, 2014 at St. Maries. She was born May 30 1930 to Thomas and Oline (Skrataas) Jones at Lewiston, ID. She grew up in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School with the class of 1948. Following her graduation, she went to work for First Security Bank. She worked in operations of the bank. Clara married John Morris Wicks on March 28, 1953 at Lewiston. Clara transferred to the St. Maries branch of First Security Bank when the family moved here in 1961. Clara worked for the bank until her retirement in 1994. Her husband died in 2007. Clara was a former Treasurer for the Benewah Co. Sr. Citizens. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She loved going where ever her husband went. She always had a deck of cards in her hand and enjoyed playing pinochle, pan, and cribbage. She also enjoyed jig saw puzzles. Other interests include metal detecting, spending winters in Arizona, playing golf, crocheting and eating out. She and her husband could be seen walking together around Meadowhurst and into town. Clara is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Terry and Dan Sheck of Coeur d' Alene, daughter and son-in-law Sherry and Joe Epler and son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Carolyn Wicks all of St. Maries. Also surviving are sister's Louise and husband Lloyd Johnson of Lewiston, and Lenore McFadden of Nampa, ID. There are also 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren surviving. She was preceded in death by grandson Christopher Epler and Brothers Clarence and Mel Jones and sister Florence Dunlap. A celebration of her life will be Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Maries Church of the Nazarene 175 Grandview Dr. St. Maries, ID with Pastor Dan Swan officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow services in the fellowship hall of the church. Her final resting place will be alongside her husband at the Woodlawn Cemetery Columbarium.
