Obituary of Douglas G. Keeler

Douglas G. Keeler, (77) resident of Harrison, ID died November 23, 2014 at his home following a brief illness. He was born November 12, 1937 to Harold and Doris (Rae) Keeler in Portland, OR. He grew up in Portland and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1955. Following graduation, Doug attended Lewis and Clark College in Portland. Doug enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1958 and was stationed in Okinawa where he worked as a cryptologist for the Intelligence Dept. He was honorably discharged in 1960 and returned to Lewis and Clark College to finish his degree in Business Administration. Following his graduation, Doug went to work for Crawford and Co. as a claims adjuster in Sacramento, CA. Doug went to work for Pacific Gas and Electric in San Francisco in 1968 as a claims adjuster. He married Catherine "Kay" Damele on Aug. 8, 1981 in Oakland, CA. Doug spent most of his career with PG & E working in the Bay Area as a claims supervisor. He retired in 1995 but continued working for them as a consultant. He moved to Harrison, ID in April of 1996. Doug kept in contact with all the friends he had met throughout his life, and they would get together on various occasions. Doug enjoyed spending winters in Gold Canyon, AZ with his wife and enjoyed playing golfer. Doug was a member of the Elks Lodge for many years and transferred membership to the St. Maries Lodge. He and his wife Kay enjoyed attending many of their activities. Doug was an avid reader and enjoyed WWII history books. One of Doug's passions was gardening and landscaping which can be seen in the beauty surrounding his home. Living in Harrison, Doug enjoyed boating and fishing. Doug was a good friend, father, and was known for his ability to complete any task that he began. He never left anything unfinished. Doug is survived by his wife Kay at the family home. Son Scott Keeler and son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey and Joanna Keeler all of Penngrove, CA. Also surviving are grandchildren Mitchell Keeler, Olivia Keeler, Miles Keeler and Vanessa Keeler all of Penngrove , CA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating Doug's life will be held at a later date and time to be announced.
