Obituary of Dorothy Ryden
Dorothy J. "Dot" Ryden (70) resident of the St. Maries area, died July 19, 2010 at her home on the St. Joe River following an a one year battle with cancer. She was born May 20, 1940 to Charles and Jewel (Yount) Noble Sr. at Little Rock, Arkansas. She moved to Spokane, WA in 1942. She attended University grade school and Central Valley Jr. High. She graduated from Lompoc High School in Lompoc, CA. She met and married Kenneth H. Dial Sr. in 1957. They had 4 children. She graduated from Allan Hancock Jr. College as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1969. She and Mr. Dial were later divorced. She served in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1973 to 1975. She moved to St. Maries in 1984. She met and married Pete Ryden in 1989. Dorothy worked at Valley Vista for 25 years before becoming ill. She was a dedicated and compassionate nurse who loved her patients and co-workers. She enjoyed gardening, baking, photography, playing bingo, she also enjoyed putting together the horse racing set ups, entering and attending the Benewah Co. Fair. She love her home and family as well as activities on the St. Joe River. Dorothy really loved socializing and "raising cane" with the guys and gals during football season (her favorite sport) at Resor's bar and the Korner Klub. Her husband said "She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend and will be greatly missed by all her friends in St. Maries and Valley Vista co-workers." She was a member of the St. Maries Eagles Lodge. She is survived by her husband Pete at the family home. Son Kenneth H. "Boya" Dial III of Coeur d' Alene, daughters Jennifer J. Dial of Post Falls, ID, Teena and her husband Jerry Krieg of Olympia, Wa and Libby Ann Dial of Spokane, WA. Also surviving are her brother Robert D. Noble of St. Maries and sister Laura Johnson of Spokane, WA She is also survived by 9 grandchilden and 12 greart grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both her parents and brother Charles Noble Jr. A celebration of her life will be Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Maries Eagles Lodge with Pastor Grant MacLean officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Idaho 9493 N. Govt. Way , Hayden ID 83861.
