Obituary of LEO G. MUNDEN JR
Leo Gordon "Smokey" Munden Jr.,(63) died in an automobile accident near his home in Fernwood, ID, on July 20, 2010. Smoke was born to Leo and Violet (Pryne) Munden Sr. August 10,, 1946 in St. Maries, ID. He grew up in St. Maries and attended St. Maries Schools in the area. He quit school in the 9th grade and went to work in the orchards Eureka CA until the age of 18. There he married his first wife Zella Marie James in 1964. He then returned to St. Maries, ID with his family and went to work for Potlatch Plywood Mill until the late 70's. He divorced his first wife Zella in 1975. He married Carol Louise Strain in 1976 and he and his family made there home in Fernwood, ID. In 1980 he moved his family to the oil fields of Wyoming and worked there till 1983. He left there and brought his family back to Fernwood, ID and went to work for Emerald Creek Garnet. He is survived by his son's Rob (Sandi) Munden of Caldwell ID, and Billy (Gail ) Munden of Ellensburg, WA. Step Sons Jim Nelson of St. Maries ID, and Joe (Marlena) Nelson of Fernwood, ID , His daughter Bonnie Munden of Spokane, WA, Step daughters Amy Nelson, and Angie (Don) Cox of Trout Lake, WA. Also surviving are sisters Janie and Charlotte. He was blessed with 15 grand children and 1 great grand child along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Mary Munden in 1989. Being a outdoors man and to pursue his dream, that being a Chain Saw Artist. He owned and operated "Smokey's" Wood and Art near the Silverwood Theme Park on Hwy 95 and Bunco Rd. Smokey loved the out doors and hobbies of camping, fishing, riding his four wheeler and panning for gold. As per Smokey's instructions there will be a private Graveside Service for the family and close friends. He was honored at a celebration at 1:00 p.m. on Sat.
