I wanted to come to Uncle Les' funeral in the worst way, cuz I wanted to let you (Lori and Paul) know that he was loved and cared about but when that winter storm warning was issued, I felt it best not to travel. My brother Ron reminds me of Uncle Les. He has Uncle Les' smile and the exact same gentle and quiet personality. A fond memory was the summer I came to Moscow to babysit Lori and Paul. I prepared lunch for the kids and Uncle Les one day. I made grilled cheese and I remember Uncle Les wanted me to salt his sandwich after I finished grilling it! I thought, "wow that's a lot of salt", but I was not going to argue with my uncle! Then last summer we went camping to Hally's Landing and went in to St. Maries to look up Uncle Les and have a visit. I was so glad when I found him home! He gave us a tour of his wood-working shop. His handywork was beautiful! I'm so sorry for your loss Lori, Paul, and uncles Jerry and D.B. and your wives!

Uncle Les has been a fixed part of my life for as long as I can remember. Whether it was at family gatherings, holidays, or simply stopping by the house on a weekend afternoon, I always enjoyed being around him. His calm demeanor always made me comfortable, and is something I try to emulate in my life. He will be missed, and absolutely never forgotten. Goodbye, Uncle Les, and good luck in whatever comes next.

I believe when God gave us Les, he gave us the kind of person the good Lord meant for all mankind to be. They don't come with any more character than Les. His honesty and perserverance are just a couple of his greatest attributes. What a loss to his Children, Grandchildren, D.B. and Jerry and thier families, and his community. My heart aches for all of you.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Les was such a great guy. He's one of those persons that will be sorely missed by all. He was modest and reserved, unpretentious, not boastful, and easy going who loved life and his work. I've always been happy to be related to him thru marriage. Rest in peace Les. You've lived well in the short time you were with us.

I know that everyone associated in any way with Les will remember him. He was an inspiration to so many with his kindness, patience and courage. His wife, Kathy, was a dear friend and I deeply respected Les and his personal strength through many difficult years dealing with her illness. I loved them both and will miss him as I do her.
