I was so lucky to spend an hour a day for the last two years with Merna. She treated me like I was one of her own. We spoke of the lord everyday. She always had a upliflting story to tell me and pearls of wisdom. I thank god everyday for the time I had with her.

Remembrances of Merna: As a new bride I came to Idaho 44 years ago to meet the whole Thurston family, and that of course included the Park family. I was welcomed into a large group of loving people, who I came to love in return. Merna was very precious to our whole family for many reasons. We all remember:
her warm welcoming hospitality,
her caring concerned and loving attitude,
her generosity, her infectious laugh,
her love of her Lord her family, and her church,
her acts of kindness to the community of St. Maries,
her wisdom and gentle spirit,
and her love of books.
One of the first books she gave to our Children was Frog and Toad are Friends by Arnold Lobel. Who can forget Frog enthusiastically calling out to his friend Toad to “Wake up! Wake up Toad it’s SPRING! —and Toad’s sleepy response “GO AWAY”! It was a favorite story for all of them. We will not forget Merna! She was a great role model and an inspiration.

I had the fortune to meet Merna at a luncheon hosted by the Downtown Library and coordinated by her daughter, Debra. Merna and I sat next to each other, where we shared fun stories, memories, and desserts! Merna had an engaging personality, charming smile, and was so very proud of Debra. I've always cherished that one encounter, but am reminded of her affectionately, through Debra. I pray for your peace of heart and strength in mind. With sympathy, Cindy Fenick

Deb and Crys, I'm so sorry for your loss. I only got to meet your mom once at a Spokane is Reading event but I could tell immediately what a wonderful spirit she had. She seemed to radiate a kindness and positivity that was infectious. I hope you have a warm pocket in your hearts to hold her close.
hugs to both of you - Eva

My deepest condolences to the whole family. Merna was an amazing woman. I keep thinking of the last conversation I had with her in January. We talked about her trip to New York, Trader Joe's wine and Facebook. She definitely lived a full life right up to the end. I'm so glad I knew her, and I know the whole community feels the same. My thoughts are with you all.

I remember Merna from my days with the St Maries Gazette Record 'way back in the 1970s. She was a real treasure then and, when we re-connected a few years ago, she remained a very special, dear person. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and all her friends. Al Kiefer, Spokane

My son absolutely adored Myrna and everytime we walk by her house he proudly states "that's my grandma Myrna's house". I am so thankful that she loved him as though she were her own blood and the three of us loved her just as much. She was one of a kind and I hope my son has fond memories of her.

I looked at the old pictures of the Dyce Family that my mom left and thought about hearing she and Myrna share their memories. I wish I had written some of them down. Myrna was a fine lady. Our sympathies and prayers are with her family.
