Obituary of Ruby Mae Carpenter
Ruby Mae Carpenter (90) lifelong St. Maries area resident died peacefully at her home on March 2, 2011. She was born January 21, 1921 to John and Mattie (Burdine) Norton at Mount Vernon, KY. She moved to Idaho when she was three years old. She grew up at Calder and St. Joe City. She graduated from St. Maries High School with honors in 1939. She married Leonard Carpenter on July 3, 1939 at Coeur d' Alene. They made their home at St. Joe City. She moved to St. Maries in 1950 where she was a homemaker and raised her family. Her husband died in 1991. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and playing the piano. She was a member of the St. Maries Assembly of God Church where she was very active . She is survived by her son's and daughters-in-law Jim and Ginger Carpenter and Tim and Laurie Carpenter all of St. Maries. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by daughter Barbara L. Salters in 2003. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday March 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. At The St. Maries Assembly of God Church with Pastor Lynn Peters officiating. Sharon Safrit played the piano and Rev. Warren Law lead the congregational singing. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jody Hendrickx, Cameron Carpenter, Wes Carpenter and Ryan Yearout. A gathering of family and friends followed back at the Fellowship Hall of the church.
