Obituary of Debbie Jean McCoy
Debbie McCoy (54) lifetime DeSmet area resident, died March 11, 2011 at her home in DeSmet. She was born October 9, 1956 to Patrick Coffey and Christine (LaSarte) Coffey of Spokane, WA. She grew up in DeSmet where she attended school. She also attended school at Plummer, ID. Later on in her years she was able to get her GED. She married James McCoy on September 22, 1975 at BonnersFerry, ID. She lived there for two years before returning to DeSmet where she was a homemaker and raised her family. From 1986 to 1989 she worked as a teacher for the Head Start Program at DeSmet. From 1989 to 1993 she worked at the Coeur d' Alene Tribal School in DeSmet as a cook. She also worked in a Daycare were she took care of many kids, she took care of her own grandkids at the daycare. After that her health issues forced her into early retirement in 1994. She enjoyed being with her two grandchildren whom she called her "honey bunnies . "Patrick James Thomas and Shadyriver Thomas".. She loved her grandkids so very dearly and she cherished them each and everyday, there was nothing that she wouldn't do for her two grandkids. She was baptized into the Jehovah Witness Church. Also surviving are her sons Jamie R. McCoy of DeSmet and Dustin Hanks of BonnersFerry. Her daughter Janice Thomas of DeSmet. She always called Janice her "Baby Girl" who she loved very much, and her son-n-law "Geno Thomas" she loved him so so much. as she did her son "Jamie". and her adopted daughters Annie LaSarte of DeSmet and Laura Stensgar of Plummer. She is also survived by her Mother "Christine Coffey", who she took care of every day of her life. she loved her mother so much Christine was Debbie's bestfriend. Debbie always made sure she took care of her family no matter what it was how it got done but it always got done by her. brother Fred Coffey of DeSmet, sisters Rosemary Yuriah of Sacramento, CA. and Carol Dorman of Tensed Idaho, and Margaret Coffey of Tensed. She was preceded in death by brothers Dennis Coffey and Christopher Coffey and sisters Marion Walker and Katherine Coffey. At her request, no services will be held. One of the things that she always told her kids and her husband was that 'If you can't see me alive why come and see me when I am gone'. She will be dearly missed by her husband Jim, daughter Janice, her son-n-law Geno, Annie, Laura, and her son Jamie. I want to thank Pam Johnson, Laura, and Annie for cooking for the family and everyone that was there to support the family when we really needed it the most.
