Obituary of Michael S. Callahan
Michael S. Callahan (64) resident of Conklin Park near Worley, ID died March 29, 2011 at his home. He was born November 19, 1946 to Keith and Wanda (Jones) Callahan at Everett, WA. He grew up in Everett and attended school there. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1964. He was Honorably Discharged in 1968 and went to work for the U.S.Merchant Marine Service. His career took him all over the world with many trips to the Orient. When he wasn't "Shipping Out" , he held many titles from shingle weaver, correctional officer to a business owner. During the 1980's he owned and operated a multi-faceted business featuring a hotel that offered white water rafting as well as horse back trips for the guests. He had a passion for life. He was known for his candid commentary, unparalleled historical knowledge, witty sense of humor and most of all his audacity. He was a leader in ever sense of the word. He is survived by his wife Maureen at the family home at Conklin Park. Sons, Matthew Ebers of San Pedro, CA. and son and daughter-in-law Jason and Catherine Callahan of Mesa, AZ Also surviving are his daughters Tara Callahan of Washington D.C. And Megan Ebers of San Pedro, CA. He is also survived by brother Steven Callahan of Everett, WA, sister Tracy Brown and her husband Myron of Everett, WA, his good friends Bill and Hazel Hickman of Worley and 4 grandchildren. Michael's love for the Lord was undeniable. He was a bold Christian, who grew in his walk until his return home. Many of those closest to him knew he was a warrior for Christ. He wielded the Sword of the Spirit with precision. We love you Michael. Praise be to God our Father. Amen. Graveside services were held Monday, April 4th at the Worley City Cemetery. A Celebration of his life followed at the Christian Life Fellowship Church , Plummer, ID where he was a member, with Pastor Randy Cordle officiating. A reception followed services at the church.
